Ephesus and Its Olive Tree
This column was hand-carved by artisans near the City of Ephesus, in Turkey, more than two thousand years ago. It still stands, a testimony to the durability of art and the strength of artistic ideas. Is is brushed by the branches of an olive tree, said to have been given to the ancient Greeks by the Goddess Athena. The aura of art is all around us, in the forms of Nature, in the work of humans, and in the spontaneous serendipity of forms, colors, and textures. It’s just a matter of learning how to look in order to find inspiration.
